PVT Neptune Successfully Rescues Myanmar Fishermen Stranded at Sea

Recently, the PVT Neptune, operated by PVT Logistics, a subsidiary of the PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVTrans), rescued three Myanmar fishermen who were in danger at sea during its voyage to India.

On September 24, 2024, while on its voyage passing by Phuket, Thailand, en route to Haldia, India, the crew on duty noticed three fishermen on a makeshift raft at coordinates 09°56'N / 096°28'E. The ship’s management immediately ordered the crew to rescue the fishermen, safely bringing them aboard. They then provided medical care, food, and clothing to help them recover both physically and mentally. Meanwhile, the captain notified the relevant rescue centers in Thailand and Myanmar, ensuring all necessary protocols were followed.

According to the fishermen, on July 20th, 2024, eleven fishermen from a fishing vessel from Ayeyarwaddy, Myanmar, sailed to Pre-paris Island to fish. However, the boat sank due to bad weather before they could reach the fishing grounds. Only three survived, while the rest of the group remain missing. The three survivors drifted to an island, where they built a raft in an attempt to find their way back to land. After more than two months adrift at sea, they were rescued by the PVT Neptune.

The crew of PVT Neptune initially collected the fishermen’s personal information to inform the relevant authorities for verification. Myanmar’s maritime authorities later confirmed that the three fishermen were indeed their citizens. On September 25th, 2024, the PVT Neptune rerouted its voyage to coordinates 15°41'N / 094°04'E, where the fishermen were handed over to a Myanmar Navy vessel to be safely returned home.
